OK, so I decided not to head the rG guild. I was getting allot of grief over the server type, in particular by people that couldn't be bothered to vote in the first place. I guess I just had enough, so I decided not to head a guild in AoC.

AoC is fun. It's going through some growing pains, but it is shaping up to be pretty amazing. I havn't been playing allot, but I am on Set and the guild I'm is is "The Great".

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

Clarke, a visionary science fiction writer who won worldwide acclaim with more than 100 books on space, science and the future, died Wednesday in his adopted home of Sri Lanka, an aide said. He was 90.

Every Article I see talks about 2001 a space oddessey which Clark co-wrote. I was more a fan of his short stories.

A fun factoid:

He was credited with the concept of communications satellites in 1945, decades before they became a reality. Geosynchronous orbits, which keep satellites in a fixed position relative to the ground, are called Clarke orbits.

He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

Wow, an Icon of the industry. I have to admit, I've been very lucky over the years to have been able to sit at a table with some of the best known names in the RPG world. It was the early 80's, I had only been playing for a few years and the guy that owned the game store I frequented told me Gygax was going to be stopping by. Let's just say that as a DM his games were just as difficult as the modules he wrote.

Over the years my concept of what makes a game great has diverged from his, but I won't forget him letting this enthusiastic kid sit at his table.

Redblade is a Character Generator I first found about 3 or 4 years ago, and it has gone through a few changes since then. However, this newest version is a complete rewrite and promises to be the best version yet. I am proud to have been selected for the Alpha, and I will let you all know when it's ready for a public beta or release.

Stay Tuned!

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

By adding a few extra weeks to the development cycle beyond its original target date, Blizzard will be able to extend the closed beta test and further refine the new content that will ship with the game.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”

Blizzard began the closed-beta phase of testing on World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade earlier this month. The January 2007 release window will allow extra time for current beta testers to participate in the final stages of development and continue providing valuable feedback.

Further information on specific worldwide release dates, pricing, and other details will be announced in the near future.
